ISLAMABAD: The Bureau of Immigration and Overseas Employment has advised Pakistanis planning to travel to European countries to be aware of new migration and asylum regulations being implemented across the European Union from June 2026.
According to the bureau, the new migration and asylum framework aims to make the system faster, more organized and more efficient by strengthening border management and accelerating decisions on asylum applications.
Under the new rules, stricter border screening procedures will be introduced, while authorities will process asylum requests more quickly to determine eligibility and address cases involving irregular migrants.
The Bureau of Immigration said a key component of the framework focuses on increasing the return of non-EU nationals residing in member states without legal authorization. For this purpose, European authorities have developed a new return mechanism and prepared a list of countries considered safe at the EU level.
Officials said the changes are intended to streamline migration procedures, improve border controls and ensure that individuals use legal channels for entry and residence.
The bureau advised prospective migrants to follow lawful immigration procedures and obtain valid visas, work permits or residence documents before travelling to European countries.
According to the advisory, individuals who do not comply with legal immigration requirements may face expedited deportation procedures under the new framework.
The implementation of the new migration pact is expected to affect asylum processing, border checks and repatriation policies across EU member states in the coming months.
