Expected schedule of Punjab winter school holidays 2024

LAHORE: Like every previous year, the Punjab government is expected to announce two weeks of holidays in education institutions across the province in the wake of the winter season.

The Schools Education Department usually announces the winter vacations in December, the last month of a calendar year, to protect students from harsh weather and schools reopen in the first month of the next year.

According to the details, the Punjab government is expected to declare winter vacation in all public and private schools from December 21 (Saturday) till January 1, 2025 (Wednesday).

However, the final decision about the holidays will be taken by the education department after reviewing the weather conditions as this year’s worsening smog issue also forced the closure of educational institutions.

Last year, the winter vacation was from Dec 18-31 and was later extended to January 9, 2024.

Recent Punjab school holidays update

After the week-long closure of schools and colleges, the provincial government announced to re-opening of institutions in three divisions of Punjab as the smog crisis has improved significantly in the last three days.

In a notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department, the schools have opened in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala divisions, however, schools from Lahore and Multan divisions will remain closed till further notice.

The Punjab School Education Department also announced new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all public and private schools.
