Punjab schools re-open except Lahore, Multan divisions

RAWALPINDI: The Punjab government announced to re-opening of schools in three divisions of Punjab as the smog crisis has improved significantly in the last three days.

In a notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department, the schools have opened in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala divisions, however, schools from Lahore and Multan divisions will remain closed till further notice.

Additionally, The Punjab School Education Department also announced new Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all public and private schools.

According to the notification, schools will commence at 8:30 AM, and all students and teachers have to wear masks, whereas outdoor activities including sports will be prohibited until further notice.

Karachi Schools Closed

Due to the upcoming 12th edition of the International Defence Exhibition and Seminars (IDEAS), the Sindh government has taken strict measures to close schools for four days amid security concerns.

According to the notification issued by the Sindh Education Department, schools located near Karachi’s Karsaz and Sharea Faisal will remain closed for four days from November 19 to 22, 2024.

These measures are taken to ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow during the event.
