Islamabad: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has declined an offer from PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif for ‘important positions’ and announced his decision to sit in the opposition “for now”.
In a meeting held at Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s residence, attended by Nawaz Sharif along with several PML-N leaders including Rana Sanaullah, Ishaq Dar, and Ahsan Iqbal, the three-time Prime Minister extended the offer.
However, Maulana Fazlur Rehman reiterated his stance of not joining the coalition government and expressed reservations regarding the results of the February 8 general elections.
During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rahman declined to immediately commit to any promises and opted to consult with party members. He also rejected the PML-N’s offer of important positions in the Centre, questioning accountability for injustices in the recent polls.
