MURREE: The feasibility study for the “Murree Tourist Glass Train Project”, which aims to connect Islamabad and Murree, is expected to be finalized by April 30, 2025. The National Engineering Services Pakistan (NESPAK) has been tasked with conducting the study.

After completion of the study, the project will require approval from the relevant authorities before proceeding to the contract stage, which will be awarded through an international tendering process. The initiative will be implemented under the Public Private Partnership model.

The proposed route for the glass train will cover a 55-km-long route from Islamabad to Murree, starting from H-9 Railway Station in Islamabad.

The meeting held at NESPAK House Islamabad, chaired by Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar, focused on assigning the feasibility study and addressing key aspects of the project. Stakeholders present in the meeting discussed various elements and shared their insights to ensure the success of the project.

During the session, participants were briefed on the progress of the feasibility study. Representatives from NESPAK provided an overview, highlighting that the study will examine aspects such as railway tracks, station infrastructure, geological surveys, environmental protection, and other important issues.

Once the feasibility study is completed, the project’s route, cost, and implementation plan will be finalized, paving the way for its next phases, including contract award and implementation.
