ISLAMABAD: Special meeting of Federal Cabinet on Friday approved 15 percent increase in salaries of government employees.
The cabinet also accorded its approval to five percent increase in pensions.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was briefed that increase in salaries will put an additional burden of Rs71 billion of the government.

However, the premier said that raise in salaries is need of the hour.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb, in a tweet, said that the Prime Minister has rejected the Finance Ministry’s proposal of a 10% increase and has approved an increase in government employees’ salaries of 15% with the consent of the cabinet.
