ISLAMABAD: In an interesting development for Election Commission of Pakistan employees, the federal government announced three salaries as bonus for flawless conduct of elections, here on Saturday.

According to the letters sent to the provincial election commissioners, the country’s election watchdog has announced that employees and officers will be given bonuses equal to three basic salaries.

However, the ECP’s letter states that those who are undergoing departmental inquiries or attached to services tribunals or judiciary will not be eligible for this bonus.

The development follows two salary bonuses for ECP employees who performed duty for the general elections in February this year.

According to the rules of the Ministry of Finance, no organization is allowed to give more than five bonuses to its staff in a financial year.

However, the ECP’s letter clarified that employees currently undergoing departmental inquiries or affiliated with services tribunals or judiciary will not be eligible for this bonus. This move ensures that only those who have a clean service record benefit from the reward.

This latest development follows the previous bonus of two basic salaries given to ECP employees who performed their duties during the general elections held in February this year.

According to Finance Ministry regulations, no organization is allowed to distribute more than five bonuses to its staff in a financial year.

Earlier Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja thanked the Election Commission staff, agency officials and local administration for their efforts to ensure a peaceful and orderly election process. He highlighted their role in facilitating a smooth transition of power from the caretakers to the newly elected government, highlighting the importance of their work in sustaining democracy.
