ISLAMABAD: The federal government is set to introduce the Digital Nation Pakistan Bill, 2024 in the National Assembly, aiming to centralize data related to social, economic, and governance aspects.

This bill is designed to establish a digital identity for citizens, encompassing crucial information such as health records, assets, and other social parameters.

Its ultimate aim is to provide a digital identity to all citizens, containing crucial information, such as health records, assets, and social parameters.

The proposed legislation would establish a digital identity for every citizen of Pakistan, providing smoother and more efficient access to government services such as ID cards, land records, birth certificates, and health documents.

Digitization will transform government departments from within, equipping them with a strategic orientation toward the improvement of public service delivery.

The legislation aims to bring the creation of a digital nation-a digital social, economic, and governance systems into Pakistan. Approved by the federal cabinet in June, this legislation aimed at modernizing the national economy and improving e-governance.

The initiative also proposes two new institutions: the National Digital Commission (NDC) and the Pakistan Digital Authority. The prime minister will hold the chair of the NDC, which will include the four provincial chief ministers and heads of the State Bank, FBR, and PTA. The Pakistan Digital Authority will be staffed by top industry experts.
