ISLAMABAD: A historic initiative aimed at bridging the gap between the diaspora and national leadership, Islamabad welcomes hundreds of overseas Pakistanis for the inaugural three-day Overseas Pakistanis Convention.

According to the Ministry of Overseas Pakistanis, the conference would serve as a venue to “warmly welcome expatriates, understand their concerns, and incorporate their feedback into future policies.”

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif issued specific orders to provide the visiting members the status of state guests. Airports and the convention venue feature elaborate welcoming arrangements, such as welcome banners, cultural performances, and help centers.

The conference formally began Sunday evening with a cultural and gastronomic festival at Lok Virsa, which featured traditional music and local cuisine. The ceremonial opening ceremony will take place on Monday, with key government officials and national institution leaders in attendance.

Representatives from NADRA, FIA, NAB, the Passport Office, State Bank, and FBR have set up specific booths to provide participants with questions and services on the spot.

Over 1,078 Pakistanis from various nations have arrived to participate in the event. The convention is meant to inspire meaningful interaction between Pakistanis living abroad and government officials, as well as real initiatives for improving services and engaging with the worldwide Pakistani community.
