Five killed, one injured in gun attack at dam site in Panjgur

PANJGUR: At least five people were killed and one injured after militants opened fire at the construction site of a dam in Balochistan’s Panjgur district late Monday.

According to the district official, the deceased and injured were private security personnel deployed at a construction site in the Paroom tehsil of Panjgur.

The armed men on motorcycles, as per the police, seized the weapons of security personnel and also torched two rooms and the company’s machinery at the camp.

The deceased have been identified as Zahir Ali from Panjgur, Aminullah from Quetta, Nawaz from Sindh, Hussain Ali Shah from Panjgur, and Abdul Ghafoor from Balgatar, Kech. While, Muhammad Shafi, healing from Balgatar in Kech district injured.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, strongly condemning the incident of firing in Panjgur, have expressed deep grief over the loss of precious lives in the terrorist attack.

In separate statements, both leaders expressed solidarity with the heirs of those, who were killed in the incident and prayed for high ranks of the departed souls

The attack comes almost a month after unknown assailants shot and killed seven labourers, hailing from different areas in Punjab, in the Panjgur district.
