KARACHI: A private Islamabad bond flight made an emergency landing at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Sunday carrying Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, his family, and 149 other passengers.
According to the sources, Islamabad-bound Fly Jinnah flight 670 made an emergency landing at the Karachi airport soon after it took off from the airport after developing a technical fault.
According to sources at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the flight was over Nawabshah when a technical malfunction forced the captain to contact the Air Traffic Controller at the Karachi Airport.
The flight captain sought permission to return and land on an emergency basis which was granted.
The CAA later grounded the Fly Jinnah plane directing Fly Jinnah from not flying the aircraft until its technical fault was removed and clearance. A spokesman of the Fly Jinnah confirmed that the plane had been grounded.
Earlier on Friday, a Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Hajj flight, PK 839, also made an emergency landing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Sources said that the Hajj flight took off at 10 pm Saturday from the Jinnah International Airport in Karachi for Jeddah. But it was diverted to Riyadh for an emergency landing.
