Foreign Office establishes Crisis Management Unit for Pakistani’s in Syria

ISLAMABAD: In view of the security situation in the war-torn country, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has activated the Crisis Management Unit (CMU) to assist Pakistanis in Syria at this time.

Amid the current crisis unfolding in the war-torn country, an army command has reportedly informed its commanders to consider Assad’s regime essentially over with the recent rebel assaults. The Foreign Office (FO) has also advised Pakistani nationals to refrain from traveling to Syria until further notice because of the deteriorating conditions.

According to the FO’s advisory, Pakistanis already in Syria should take utmost care of themselves, remaining in contact with the embassy of Pakistan in Damascus. The embassy has been actively involved in assisting Pakistani nationals within Syria, and their contact numbers are provided for help.

A somber report from Syria states that under formidable pressure from rebels encroaching on Damascus, thousands of protesters began marching into the capital chanting “Freedom”.
