Four died,16 injured as tractor-trolley fell into a deep gorge in Gilgit

Gilgit: At least four people died, and others sustained injuries when a tractor-trolley fell into a deep gorge in the Ghanche district of Gilgit-Baltistan on Wednesday,  according to officials.

The incident happened when a tractor-trolley loaded with labourers working on a construction site fell some 150-200 feet into a deep gorge, according to police spokesperson Ghulam Muhammad.

The incident occurred in the early morning near the Gulshan Kabir area of Ghanche district.

According to police officials, the driver lost control of the tractor-trolley, resulting in four deaths and 16 injuries. However, Ghanche district Rescue 1122 Media Coordinator Zulfiqar Ali said the number of injured was 12.

The injured were treated with first aid on the spot and later shifted to the hospital for advanced treatment on the recommendation of doctors, the rescue official stated.

The cause of the incident is being investigated, and more details will be shared soon.

Earlier this week, three women and a girl died, and eight others were seriously injured when a speeding jeep fell into a ravine in Mansehra.

The jeep was full of passengers when its driver lost control, and it fell into the ravine.

It should be noted that in February 2025, a tourist was killed, and 20 others were injured when a tourist bus fell into a ravine in the Balakot area of ​​Mansehra.
