KARACHI: Gas supply has been suspended across half of Karachi for 24 hours on Sunday. This results in a total of 31 hours of gas load-shedding, as SSGC halts the gas supply daily from 10 pm.

According to a spokesperson from Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the shutdown affects both domestic and industrial consumers due to transmission pipeline work.

The areas impacted include Surjani Town, Manghopir, Qasba Town, Orangi, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, FB Area, Gulberg, Buffer Zone, Site Industrial Area, Baldia, Ittehad Town, Kemari, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Ahsanabad, Janjal Goth, and the Super Highway vicinity.

The gas supply was cut off from 5 am on July 28 and will remain suspended until 5 am on July 29 (Monday).

In related news, Mari Petroleum Company recently made a significant discovery of new gas reserves from five wells in Sindh.

The company has completed the testing, production, and transmission of an additional 3 million metric standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of gas. This achievement was disclosed following the submission of detailed reports to the Pakistan Stock Exchange.

Mari Petroleum has announced that natural gas from the Ghazij Gas Field is now being supplied to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL).

Additionally, it is important to note that a 24-inch Sui gas pipeline in Mach was recently sabotaged, resulting in a significant gas supply disruption, including in Quetta. The explosion caused extensive damage and led to a complete suspension of the gas supply.
