PTI emerges as the most searched party, capturing a remarkable 78 percent of the search interest.

ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan inches closer to the highly anticipated general elections on February 8, Google Trends data reveals a notable discrepancy in online search interest among political parties over the past 14 days, showcasing a clear dominance of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI).

In preparation for the upcoming elections, Google has launched a dedicated page to track election search trends in Pakistan. The page not only displays key terms related to the elections but also allows users to filter searches by city or region.

According to the trend page, PTI emerges as the most searched party, capturing a remarkable 78 percent of the search interest. In contrast, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) trails behind with a search interest of only 14 percent. The Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) registered a modest 3 percent in online searches, while Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan garnered 2 percent. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) secured a search interest of 1.9 percent.

These statistics indicate a clear online dominance of PTI, suggesting heightened public interest, discussions, or engagement with the party’s activities and policies. The varying search percentages shed light on the diverse levels of attention and curiosity directed towards different political entities in Pakistan.

It is crucial to note that the data displayed on the page represents search trends, and search interest about a particular event or party may not necessarily indicate public support. As the elections draw nearer, the online landscape offers valuable insights into the digital discourse surrounding Pakistan’s political landscape.
