ISLAMABAD: The government has declared a public holiday across the country on May 1, 2026, on the occasion of Labor Day.

According to the notification issued in this regard, this day will be celebrated at the official level and all government and private institutions will remain closed.

The State Bank of Pakistan has also declared a holiday on May 1, according to which all banks across the country will remain closed on Friday.

Every year, May 1 is celebrated as Labor Day in Pakistan, like the rest of the world, to pay tribute to the services and rights of workers.

This year, since this holiday falls on a Friday, government and private employees will get three consecutive days off, combined with Saturday and Sunday, which will provide a long weekend.
