ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has announced a reduction in electricity tariffs for July, providing a major relief to electricity consumers benefiting millions of households across the country.

According to an official notification issued on Wednesday, electricity tariffs have been reduced by 50 paisa per unit for consumers of state-owned distribution companies (DISCOs), while K-Electric consumers in Karachi will see a significant reduction of Rs 4.34 per unit in their bills.

The revised tariffs will be reflected in the electricity bills for July.

Nepra has issued a notification for the reduction in electricity prices under the monthly Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA). Electricity prices have been reduced for K-Electric consumers for April 2025, while a reduction has also been approved for consumers of state-owned distribution companies (DISCOs) for May 2025.

K-Electric had requested NEPRA to reduce the tariff by Rs 4.60 per unit under the FCA mechanism. NEPRA reserved the decision after hearing the applications submitted by K-Electric and the discos.
