Govt announces public holiday tomorrow on February 16: Here’s why!

MUZAFFARABAD: The Azad Kashmir government has declared a public holiday in connection with the Overseas Kashmir Conference to be held in the capital on Monday, February 16, 2026.

According to an official notification, the Overseas Kashmir Conference will be held in Muzaffarabad, which is expected to be attended by a large number of overseas Pakistanis and Kashmiris.

The public holiday has been declared in Azad Jammu and Kashmir to facilitate the arrival of distinguished guests and the arrangements for the conference. All government, semi-government and private commercial establishments in Muzaffarabad will remain closed on this occasion.

The objective of organizing the Overseas Kashmir Conference by the Azad Kashmir government is to promote the development of the state, attract investment and make overseas investors aware of the facilities and opportunities provided in Azad Kashmir.

Officials said that the objective of the conference is to strengthen relations with overseas Kashmiris and encourage them to play a role in the economic growth and development of the region.
