ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has cut short about 50% of the number of Hajj assistants for the 2025 pilgrimage due to an immense decrease in the number of pilgrims this year, according to media reports.
840 assistants were selected through an exam conducted by National Testing Services (NTS) at first to serve 179,210 pilgrims, but the number has now been reduced to 440.
The reduction of the assistant is due to the 67,000 Pakistanis being unable to perform Hajj this year, according to media reports.
The selection of the assistants will be in line with revised requirements issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs. This initiative aims to provide better services to the pilgrims this year.
Earlier, The Ministry of Religious Affairs had begun the provision of the vaccine to Hajj 2025 pilgrims from 21 April, in different cities of Punjab, including the Federal capital and Peshawar.
The vaccine was provided to the pilgrims in Krachi, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Sialkot on Tuesday, 22 April, while the pilgrims from Balochistan receive the vaccine on Wednesday.
The Ministry will also compensate the recipients with some gifts.
