ISLAMABAD: The government has decided to expand the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) to include more beneficiaries. Sources indicate that the aim is to raise the number of BISP recipients to 10 million.
Currently, the program supports approximately 9.3 million people. A dynamic survey is being conducted to identify additional beneficiaries, with efforts focused on specific districts across all four provinces.
Moreover, offices are being established in remote areas to assist with the survey, and special attention is being given to Balochistan. Mobile registration units are also being deployed to remote regions of Sindh and Balochistan.
Additionally, the registration of eligible women continues through BISP’s mobile vehicles.
Previously, the federal government increased the budget for the Benazir Income Support Program to Rs. 593 billion, marking a 29 percent rise from the previous year.
This was announced by Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, during his budget speech in the National Assembly. The Benazir Kafaalat scheme now aims to extend its support from 9.3 million to 10 million beneficiaries.
