ISLAMABAD – The government used to give Eid bonus or allowance to employees as a goodwill gesture and help them celebrate one of the two major Islamic festivals.
Recently, a notification surfaced online claiming that the federal government has approved Eid-ul-Fitr allowance for all employees.
The finance ministry later clarified that the notification was fake, saying no such memorandum had been issued.
The fake memo falsely claimed that federal employees in grades 1 to 22 would get Eid-ul-Fitr allowance equal to 15 percent of their basic pay.
