Govt to appoint Rizwan Saeed as new ambassador to US

ISLAMABAD: The Federal government decided to appoint senior diplomat Rizwan Saeed as Pakistan’s new ambassador to Washington.

During its weekly briefing, the Foreign Office confirmed the development.

Speaking on behalf of the Foreign Office, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch also declared Asim Iftikhar’s appointment as Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN. Asim Iftikhar, who served as France’s ambassador before, will take up his new role eventually.

She explained, “These appointments have been under consideration for several weeks and are part of regular diplomatic rotations.”
