KARACHI: The Prime Minister’s Adviser for Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, has made an important announcement regarding the visit of the sons of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party founder, Imran Khan, to Pakistan.

Speaking to the media, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah added, “Of course, they have to finalize some protocols. If they are coming only for meetings, they’ll make sure that their meetings are handled properly with full protocol.”

He also added, “Imran Khan’s sons may meet their father two or three times and then go back. Similarly, the sisters of Imran Khan will also meet their brother only under the boundaries of the law.”

Rana Sanaullah brought up some security issues when he said that if Imran Khan’s sons wanted to participate in public rallies or processions, this could lead to a national embarrassment for him. “If they want to hold rallies or marches, the government should not allow that,” he emphasized.

As regards visits to the jail, he said: “If the meetings are for the purpose of visiting, these will be allowed strictly according to the law. The jail authorities, aided by the government, shall follow jail rules and High Court directions regarding such visits.”

The adviser was critical of the policies of PTI, accusing the party of supporting resistance and an arms struggle. This was in reference to some of the past happenings in the country, such as the May 25, May 9, and November 26 incidents of 2024.

Addressing the gatherings outside the Adiala Jail, he said that the current attempt is just devastating, and any kind of escalation may result in the government thinking about moving Imran Khan to some other jail. “Hundreds of people assemble in the morning, but only 40 to 50 are left by evening,” he said.

Rana Sanaullah also criticized the PTI’s international lobbying activities, saying that they have already tried to influence US elections and Congress members but could not get any positive results.
