GUJRAT: After the alleged rape of a female student in a college in Lahore, the administration has announced the closure of all public and private colleges in Gujrat for three days.
In this regard, the Deputy Commissioner of Gujrat has issued a notification.
The notification read, “In view of the ongoing protest by students, all Government and Private Colleges (Boys and Girls) in Gujarat District will be closed with immediate effect on administrative grounds from 17.10.24 (Thursday) to 19.10.24 (Saturday). It is circulating on social media.
The authenticity of the notification is yet to be independently verified.
The protest first started in Lahore after the alleged rape of a female student by a security guard in Lahore and later spread to other cities.
However, the girl’s parents, the police and the Punjab government have denied these reports and said that no such incident took place in any college in Lahore.
