LAHORE: A notification circulating on social media regarding the extension of school holidays due to Pakistan-India tensions has been declared fake.
Punjab Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said that no decision has been taken yet regarding the extension of school holidays and the notification that has gone viral is fake.
She added that any decision to extend school holidays in Punjab would be taken based on the changing situation.
Last night, the Punjab government announced that all government and private educational institutions in Lahore and across the province would remain closed on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, following India’s attack on Pakistan.
The decision came after India carried out air strikes targeting several locations in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and Punjab, including Kotli, Ahmedpur East, Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Muridke. The Pakistani army retaliated, shooting down two Indian fighter jets and destroying an Indian brigade headquarters and a check post along the Line of Control.
