LAHORE: Registration for the CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s Electronic-Taxi Program 2025 is open as the provincial government has been adopting steps to improve air quality throughout the province.
The E-taxi scheme has been approved under the green and clean Punjab initiative launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif
Earlier, the Punjab Chief Minister approved the financial model of the scheme, and on consensus, it was decided to introduce a pilot project for 1100 e-taxis. It was also agreed to introduce a solar power system for e-charging stations.
The meeting thoroughly discussed the problems of the e-taxi project. During the briefing, she was informed that a subsidy in the e-taxi scheme will be provided by the Punjab government.
The Punjab E-Taxi Scheme is being implemented by the Transport and Mass Transit Department with the help of the Bank of Punjab.
The transport department invites applications from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs), their local authorized dealers, distributors, and joint ventures to enroll the models of electric cars that satisfy the provided minimum parameters.
Deadline for the Punjab E-Taxi scheme
The department stated that the individuals who are interested may submit the application for registration and supporting documents until June 24, 2025.
The applications will be addressed to the Transport and Mass Transit Department at 11-A Egerton Road, Lahore.
The provincial government will provide financing of up to Rs6.5 million for each E-Taxi to the buyers at interest for five years. The government will also provide support for the payment of equity.
