Punjab CM Maryam approves financial model for 1,100 e-taxis across province

Here's how to register for CM Punjab E-Taxi scheme

LAHORE: In a significant development, sources said that Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved the financial model for the e-taxi project after consensus was developed to launch a pilot project of 1,100 e-taxis.

The sources said that the meeting, chaired by Punjab CM Maryam, decided to use solar-powered systems for e-charging stations. The e-taxi project is aimed at improving transport facilities for citizens in the province of Punjab.

The CM was briefed about mass transit projects in general. The feasibility study report of the Yellow Line mass transit system was presented and participants were briefed about the province’s green e-taxi initiative.

The sources said further route reports have also been sought for the Gujranwala members of the mass transit system. CM Nawaz directed that routes should be decided based on public convenience and directed that work on the Yellow Line project should start immediately from Jinnah Terminal to Harbanspura.

The meeting also covered some areas of the e-taxi project. The briefing revealed that as part of the etaxi project, the Punjab government will provide subsidies under the scheme. The proposal was also discussed to set up charging stations along with the petrol pump stations.
