LAHORE: The biggest development plan in the provincial history has come to light, under which sewage will be provided in every city of Punjab, roads will be excellent, security will be ensured, all basic facilities including health will be mandatory.
A special meeting was held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in which the transparent and timely completion of each project of the Punjab Development Plan was reviewed.
In the meeting, the Deputy Commissioners of Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bhakkar, Vehari, Wazirabad, Gujranwala, Sheikhupura and Kasur presented direct reports to the Chief Minister regarding the progress of the Punjab Development Plan.
During the meeting, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz was informed in a briefing that 5,887 kilometers of sewerage and 181 drainage lines will be constructed in 51 cities of Punjab to ensure urban health and basic amenities. To ensure urban convenience and easy transportation, 100 kilometers of roads and streets will be paved under the “Maryum Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab” program.
The briefing was informed that 100 kilometers of roads and streets will be constructed under the “Maryum Nawaz Ka Sohna Punjab” program for easy, safe and dignified life in every neighborhood and every street. Under the program, 100 kilometers of roads and streets will be paved, and more than 33,000 new manhole covers will be provided in Punjab.
The Chief Minister was informed that the preparation of “High Density Poly Thai Lane Pipe” for sewage in Punjab is in full swing, 232 km of sewage line, 81 pumps, 51 generators and 64 km of urban roads will be built in Multan, Bosan Road, Khanewal Road, Shujaabad Road and Nishtar Road will be constructed, expanded and beautified.
It was informed in the briefing that a sewage and drainage system will be built in Dera Ghazi Khan at a cost of Rs. 12.5 billion, the sewage and drainage system in DG Khan will be completed in two zones, the Manika Canal will be converted into an agricultural canal instead of a disposal canal, and 140 km of sewage line will be constructed and repaired in Dera Ghazi Khan.
Officials said that a 42-inch diameter sewer line, 100 new manholes, and a solar disposal station will be established in Bhakkar. Parks, walkways, and washrooms will also be built for the public in Bhakkar. Punjab Development Plan projects will be completed in Vehari at a cost of Rs 6.7 billion.
