Hungarian FM voiced support for extension of GSP Plus status for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan and Hungary have committed to expanding their cooperation across various fields and strengthening collaboration at multilateral forums, including the United Nations.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar and Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó met in Islamabad today and came to an agreement to this effect.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar later spoke at a joint news conference, stating that there is a great deal of room to improve bilateral cooperation and that both parties have a shared interest in working together in sectors like industrial manufacturing, information technology, healthcare, energy, and agriculture.

According to the Deputy Prime Minister, Hungary is still Pakistan’s strongest ally and most reliable friend. According to him, these connections stem from a shared understanding and a desire for progress, peace, and security.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister reiterated his support for Pakistan’s GSP Plus status to be extended past 2027 in his remarks. According to him, the EU views Pakistan as a trustworthy partner, and both parties stand to gain from Pakistan’s GSP Plus status.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister stated that both nations have rich histories and cultural legacies, which they view as a source of strength, about the MOUs signed on cooperation in archeology and culture.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister acknowledged the threat presented by terrorists headquartered in Afghanistan and praised Pakistan’s anti-terrorism efforts, stating that they significantly enhance both international and European security.

Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Hungarian Foreign Minister signed an agreement on mutual visa exemption for holders of diplomatic passports. Two Memorandums of Understanding were also signed for cooperation in the culture and archaeology sectors.
