Karachi proposes Rs15,000 fine for one-way violations

KARACHI: Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab revealed that a proposal to increase the fine for one-way traffic violations to Rs 15,000 on major roads controlled by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) is under consideration.

He said that heavy fines for one-way violations will be imposed by city wardens. He added that a resolution regarding the fines will be presented in the next council meeting.

Murtaza Wahab stressed that this step has been taken to prevent violations of traffic rules and ensure public safety. The mayor stressed that strict measures are necessary to improve traffic flow and prevent accidents.

The mayor appealed to the citizens to follow traffic rules and cooperate with the administration to ensure safe travel across the city.

Meanwhile, a crackdown on traffic violations is underway in Karachi on the instructions of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

According to the progress report submitted to the Chief Minister by the Traffic Police from April 9 to 16, 11,276 motorcycles were seized for not wearing helmets and violating traffic rules.

In addition, action was taken against 831 vehicles with fancy number plates and black windows, and 193 dumpers and tankers were seized for fitness and overspeeding issues.
