ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said he and his wife are being specifically targeted through ‘fake news’ after the opposition failed at its political narrative.
While meeting a high-level delegation of the Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE) at his residence in Islamabad, the former prime minister said he is being targeted through fake news and allegations under the umbrella of the government.
He said the incumbent government is doing this after failing at its political narrative.
Imran Khan said fake news and freedom of speech are two separate things. He said that even as a state, the enemy uses rumour-mongering as a weapon.
Imran Khan that the journalists can play a vital role in the elimination of rumour-mongering and fake news.
He said PTI encourages independent and responsible media as well as supports its development.
On the occasion, CPNE President Kazim Khan said rectification of mistakes is more important than blaming the media.
