RAWALPINDI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has granted PTI founder Imran Khan’s medical examination and allowed him to talk to one of his friends over the phone.

ATC Judge Amjad Ali Shah granted the applications while hearing the GHQ attack case.

During the hearing, another accused named Shaheer Sikandar was also indicted in the case, taking the total number of indictees to 118.

Omar Ayub filed an application seeking the case record, while Ajmal Sabir and Malik Ansar filed applications for acquittal. The court will hear arguments on these three applications at the next hearing.

On the other hand, the prosecution requested that the case be heard on a daily basis after January 13, which the court accepted.

Later, the hearing of the case was adjourned till January 13.

Meanwhile, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad declared Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur and Umar Tanveer Butt as proclaimed offenders in a case related to protests against the disqualification of PTI founder Imran Khan.

In the proceedings presided over by ATC Judge Tahir Abbas Supra, steps were also taken to declare former federal minister Amir Mahmood Kayani as proclaimed offenders.

During the hearing, PTI leaders Faisal Javed and Wasiq Qayyum appeared in the court while the cases of the proclaimed offenders were separated from the other accused. The court issued arrest warrants for several absentees and adjourned the hearing till January 15, directing arguments on the applications submitted.

Senator Faisal Javed had filed a petition seeking removal of terrorism-related charges from the case. The case, which pertains to protests against Imran Khan’s disqualification in 2022, was registered at Islamabad’s I-9 Police Station.
