ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s One Constitution Avenue project, which has faced legal challenges since its inception, includes former prime minister and PTI founder Imran Khan among its listed apartment owners.

The building received a fresh investigation after the Islamabad High Court confirmed a decision that ordered its occupants to leave. As Khan was named among those who invested in the project, but now there are reports in the media that Imran Khan sold his apartment C11E four years back, and the property is now registered in the name of Shahid Naseer.

The Islamabad High Court decision, which upheld CDA rights, determined that the One Constitution Avenue project buyers will gain no legal ownership power because their rights were not acknowledged during the court proceeding.

The court declared that ownership rights were invalid because the lease had been revoked and the required legal ownership transfer processes remained incomplete.

The decision escalated existing conflicts about the luxury high-rise structure, which stands in Islamabad’s Red Zone, while police continue to remove residents who allege they purchased their apartments through legitimate methods.

The building situation has created panic among families, with some already fleeing the premises because of the police presence, which heavily patrols the area.

The prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif initiated a review committee, which increased the political aspects of the ongoing legal dispute regarding the crisis.

The project, which occupies 13 acres and houses approximately 300 residents, has faced legal conflicts since its development began as a hotel and transitioned into residential apartment buildings.

The case triggered a public discussion about enforcement fairness because critics argue that high-profile housing projects receive different treatment than informal settlements, which face demolition in other areas of Islamabad.
