ISLAMABAD: Authorities stopped Journalist Imran Riaz Khan from traveling abroad to Saudi Arabia for the Hajj pilgrimage at the Islamabad International Airport on Monday.

According to the reports, officials of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) stopped him from boarding the flight despite the court order without mentioning any reason.

Imran Riaz Khan left for home from the airport and said that he would approach the court again.

Last week, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Chief Justice Aamer Farooq allowed the journalist to travel to Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj.

During the hearing, IHC CJ was told that Imran Riaz Khan’s name was placed on the Exit Control List (ECL) at the recommendation of the Federal Investigation Agency.

After hearing arguments, the court granted permission to the petitioner to travel abroad.
