ISLAMABAD: Judge Muhammad Bashir’s accountability court rejected the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) request for an extended physical remand of Imran Khan, the former chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), in the Toshakhana case, marking a significant development.
The Adiala Jail was the venue for the proceedings.
After a two-day physical remand, Imran Khan was brought back before the accountability court for additional discussion. The NAB team requested an extra three days for the PTI founder and informed the court of the events that occurred during the most recent physical remand.
But after giving it some thought, the court granted a 14-day judicial remand in lieu of the NAB’s request for an extended physical remand.
It is noteworthy that the accountability court had initially ordered the former prime minister to be physically remanded for two days during the previous hearing, which was a step forward in the legal process related to the Toshakhana case.

An accountability court had earlier denied Imran Khan’s request for pre-arrest bail in the Toshakhana case.
Judge Muhammad Bashir of the accountability court had declared the case’s reserved verdict regarding Imran Khan’s request for pre-arrest bail.
The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Deputy Prosecutor General Muzaffar Abbasi said that the PTI founder’s bail petition was rejected.
