In next elections overseas Pakistanis voters will decide results of 40 seats in Punjab: Sheikh Rashid

ISLAMABAD:  Federal Minister for Interior Affairs Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday has said that next elections in Pakistan will be held through electronic voting machines (EVMs). He said that in next elections overseas Pakistanis voters will decide results of 40 seats in Punjab and in whole country on 80 seats the votes of overseas Pakistanis will decide the election results. Sheikh Rashid said that he has conducted the study there are 40 to 50 thousand votes of overseas Pakistanis in several constituencies, adding that when the overseas Pakistanis will vote for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) than the opposition will say rigging has been done. Sheikh Rashid said PM Imran Khan should thank God that he has found such an incompetent and ineligible opposition.

Talking to media persons after addressing the ceremony of Girls’ College in Rawalpindi on Wednesday, Sheikh Rashid hoped that EVMs in general elections will ensure free, fair and transparent elections with credible and accurate results.

All Pakistani citizens living abroad will have the right to vote in next general elections and hence will play a vital role in decision making, he added. He said now, the decision is of opposition whether it will approach court or not.

Sheikh Rashid said that the inflation persists and we will have to find solution of this issue, adding that the increasing inflation has affected salaried employees. We have to find out some solution to overcome the crises in Pakistan, he expressed.

The minister further stated Pakistan is enjoying cordial and exemplary relations with China and Saudi Arabia since long.

Sheikh Rashid said 60 colleges and three universities have been established in Rawalpindi district while the government is working to establish an IT university in this constituency.

He said education of girls is very crucial for education of the coming generations, announcing to provide 1.5 million rupees for purchasing computers for Government Associate College for Women Rawalpindi.

Later on while addressing the leaders’ conference in Islamabad, Sheikh Rashid said that the only one who accepts defeat faces defeat, adding that no bill will be passed during the government of Imran Khan which goes against the bible. He said that in result of giving right of vote to overseas Pakistanis the results of 40 seats in Punjab will be decided on the votes of overseas Pakistanis and in whole Pakistan decision of 80 constituencies will be made through votes of overseas Pakistanis.

Sheikh Rashid said that till today he has not seen any Christian begging in whole country, adding that no Christian will be found involved in any terrorism. He said that there is no Christian who is an extremist. Sheikh Rashid said that he assures being the interior minister that there will be no law which will be against the religion of Christians.
