ISLAMABAD: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar‘s social media accounts have been blocked by the Indian government, after blocking the social media accounts of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the Director General of Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) in India.
Attaullah Tarar had exposed India’s governmental persecution, human rights abuses, and efforts to silence the Kashmiri people in the world media. In reaction, India disabled his official social media accounts.
Earlier, India had been gradually blocking social media accounts of several prominent personalities in Pakistan, including politicians and actresses.
Panicked India has blocked the Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) accounts of Pakistan Inter Services and Pubic Relations (ISPR) after being exposed over false claims in the Pahalgam attack.
The action follows the ISPR’s Director General’s unambiguous disclosure of facts and the exposure of Indian fabrications surrounding the Pahalgam scandal on April 29 and 30.
Moreover, India also banned the official YouTube account of Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as well as blocked prominent Pakistani YouTube channels, stating that these YouTube channels were promoting provocative content in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
According to Indian media, the ban came into effect on the recommendations of India’s Ministry of Home Affairs. The banned YouTube channels have more than 63 million subscribers.
