India escalates water war, blocks Neelum River flow to Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: In another blatant act of hostility, New Delhi has once again targeted Pakistan by restricting the flow of water from the Kishanganga Dam into the Neelum River.

The move marks a new escalation in India’s ongoing water aggression, severely affecting the livelihoods of thousands of Pakistanis who depend on the river for agriculture and daily necessities. Officials confirm that India’s unilateral decision has significantly reduced the flow of water, exacerbating an already tense situation between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

This deliberate water blockade comes amid recent violent incidents and rising tensions following New Delhi’s suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, a key agreement governing the sharing of water between the two sides.

Experts have warned that India’s ruthless use of water as a political weapon not only violates international law but also threatens regional peace and stability. Islamabad condemned the move in the strongest terms, expressing its determination to protect its water rights and holding India accountable for these provocative actions.

This latest water stoppage is a stark reminder of the Modi government’s inhumane tactics aimed at destabilizing Pakistan through resource depletion, pushing the region closer to an environmental and humanitarian crisis.
