ISLAMABAD: On Saturday, WhatsApp users across Pakistan encountered difficulties sending media files via mobile data, sparking speculation about the cause.

The experts are linking this disruption to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf jalsa in Lahore at Kahna.

However, according to the sources, these disruptions are mainly a part of preparations for MDCAT 2024 which will be held tomorrow Sunday, September 22, 2024.

The Punjab government is taking strict measures to ensure the integrity of the upcoming Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) on September 22.

To prevent cheating, mobile and internet services will be suspended within 500 meters of test centers across 12 districts in Punjab, including major cities like Lahore, Gujranwala, and Multan.

Security Measures

  • Section 144 Imposed: The government has enforced Section 144 in 12 cities to maintain a secure environment and prevent cheating.
  • Restricted Access: Only candidates and supervisory staff will be allowed inside exam centers, while unrelated individuals will be restricted from entering within 100 yards of the centers.
  • Protest Ban: Protests and demonstrations are banned near exam centers in the affected cities.

These measures aim to prevent external assistance to candidates and ensure a fair and secure exam environment for the 82,500 candidates appearing for the test. The suspensions and restrictions will be in place on September 22 to maintain the integrity of the MDCAT exam.
