LAHORE: Despite being the most expensive franchise tournament in the world, the Indian Premier League (IPL) has failed to secure the top position in the latest global league rankings released by the World Cricketers’ Association.

According to the rankings, England’s The Hundred has been declared the best cricket league in the world, securing 75.2 points. South Africa’s SA20 claimed the second spot with 68 points, while the IPL was placed third with 62.6 points.

The report noted that despite its financial strength and global popularity, the IPL still requires improvements particularly in players’ rights and welfare to be considered the top league globally.

Among other major leagues, Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL) ranked fourth with 62.5 points, followed by the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in fifth place with 48 points.

The remaining positions in the top 10 include Major League Cricket (MLC) at sixth, International League T20 (ILT20) at seventh, Caribbean Premier League at eighth, Abu Dhabi T10 at ninth, and Bangladesh Premier League rounding off the list at tenth.

The rankings highlight a shift in global T20 league dynamics, with emerging competitions challenging traditional powerhouses in terms of quality, organization, and player satisfaction.
