ISLAMABAD: Travel update for residents of the federal capital, as a temporary inconvenience lies ahead as Flights will be suspended on several days before Independence Day.

Air travel arrangements for Pakistanis, particularly residents of twin cities, may be affected this August as Islamabad International Airport is scheduled for several closures on 14 August parade rehearsals, the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) confirmed.

In a new NOTAM, aviation authorities announced that all departures and arrivals of the capital will be suspended from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM on August 11, 12, and 13. Airlines have been strictly advised against flying during these peak security hours.

Shutdowns between August 6–9 and August 11–14 are planned, with the daily 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM shutdown also being operational on some days.

Travelers have been instructed to double-check their reservations and prepare for eleventh-hour adjustments, as carriers rush to reschedule flights.

The decision is part of the high-level security and logistical planning for the grand Independence Day procession in the federal capital, an event to be celebrated with full ceremonial pomp.
