ISLAMABAD: The residents of Islamabad and Rawalpindi can now use official Sehri and Iftar timings to schedule their daily fasts during Ramadan.

The month requires millions of Pakistani Muslims to practice their faith through worship, self-control, and dedication to their religious obligations.

The schedule states that Ramadan’s first day will begin on 18th February (Wednesday) when Sehri ends at 5:31 a.m. and Iftar starts at 5:59 p.m., which results in a fasting period of 12 hours and 28 minutes.

The fasting period for Ramadan will increase throughout the month. The fasting period will last 12 hours and 46 minutes on the 10th day because Sehri starts at 5:27 a.m. and Iftar occurs at 6:08 p.m.

The 21st day of Ramadan will display the longest fasting time of the month because Sehri begins at 6:24 a.m. and Iftar ends at 7:48 p.m. The religious scholars, together with local authorities, request that people follow the established fasting schedule while observing health measures during their fasting periods, which become extended during the summer months.

Muslims in Islamabad and Rawalpindi will participate in social distancing during Taraweeh prayers at mosques, but many communities will continue their traditional home-based observances.
