ISLAMABAD: In view of the arrival of foreign delegations in the federal capital, very strict security arrangements have been made, due to which the Red Zone and its extended area have been completely sealed for all types of traffic.
Islamabad Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive alternative traffic plan for the convenience of citizens and has imposed a ban on the entry of heavy traffic until further notice.
According to the details, the expressway from Koral to Zero Point will be closed for traffic, while the traffic flow on the Srinagar Highway may also be affected at different times.
The administration has directed transport owners to avoid traveling towards Islamabad during these days. Under the traffic plan, residents of G5, G6, G7, F6, and F7 should use Margalla Road and Ninth Avenue to commute to Rawalpindi, while traffic coming from Faisal Avenue and Zero Point will also be diverted to Ninth Avenue.
According to special instructions issued for heavy traffic, vehicles going from Peshawar to Lahore will be able to go to Rawat GT Road via Taxila Motorway, Chakri Interchange, and Chak Belly Road. Similarly, traffic going from Lahore to Peshawar will take the route from Rawat to Chak Belly Road.
The administration has suggested that residents of Bhara Kahu should use Korang Road and Bani Gala, while those coming from Saddar Rawalpindi should use Karnal Sher Khan Road.
