Islamabad weather forecast; PMD predicts rain at weekend amid soaring temperatures

ISLAMABAD: Rain, wind, and thunderstorm are likely over Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Friday evening and night, Saturday, and Sunday. Intermittent rains will give people a lot of relief from the intense heat wave.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental winds prevail over most parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave is likely to enter the western parts of the country on Friday evening or night. It is likely to engulf the upper parts on Saturday.

Under the influence of this weather system, gusty winds/winds and thundershowers are likely to occur at a few places over Twin Cities, North Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Upper Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan on Friday evening/night and the next two days. Dusty winds are expected in the central and southern parts of the country.

Intermittent rain will help bring temperatures back to normal over the weekend. The day temperature was 3–5 degrees Celsius above normal in Islamabad, Lahore, and some parts of Pakistan until today.

The maximum temperature in Islamabad is expected to be between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius on Friday and between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius on Saturday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature is likely to be between 36 and 38 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.

On the other hand, a heat wave has been maintained in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and most parts of the country during the last 24 hours. Nawabshah and Dadu remained the hottest places in the country, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 48 degrees Celsius.

The maximum temperature recorded in Islamabad was 38 degrees Celsius. The humidity ratio was recorded at 41% in the morning.
