Federal govt shares latest update on Islamabad IT Parks

ISLAMABAD: With the rapid evolution of digital development, Pakistan is moving towards establishing a vibrant network of state-of-the-art Information Technology (IT) Parks aimed at launching young professionals to implement their innovative ideas.

An Information Ministry official said, “These parks will not only create employment opportunities for IT professionals but also earn millions of dollars of valuable foreign exchange, give a boost to the IT industry, and their Once completed and fully operational, exports will increase.” Technology.

He said that in order to fulfill Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif‘s vision of ‘Digital Pakistan’, the foundation stone of the IT Park was laid in Islamabad with the cooperation of Korea in Chak Shehzad.

Giving details of the project, he said, “The Rs 13.72 billion project is expected to address the infrastructure gap in the IT sector. It will also facilitate technology transfer through industry and academic linkages. will support the commercialization of IT, link tertiary education to production, promote research and development, and increase IT exports and industry competitiveness.

“The Islamabad IT Park will consist of a twelve-storey building (including two basements or ground floors and ten floors) with an area of ​​66,893 square meters. Initially, it will house around 120 startups and small to medium enterprises. will provide office space for institutions, along with other facilities such as testing laboratories, classrooms, an industry-academia linkage centre, and an auditorium,” he added.

Under the vision of the Prime Minister, all relevant institutions and departments are jointly working on various projects to increase Pakistan’s IT exports to 25 billion dollars.
