ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court’s senior puisne judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah has rescued himself from performing his duties as administrative judge.
As per the sources, Justice Mansoor refused to sign the administrative files and returned them stating that he had stepped down as the administrative judge.
The judge was assigned duties of administrative judge by then Chief Justice Qazi Faiz Esa.
Earlier, Justice Shah had written a letter to the Judicial Commission secretary regarding the nomination of the judges for the constitutional benches of the Supreme Court and the high courts.
In a nine-page letter, the top court judge said that the commission had already nominated and determined the number of judges of the Constitutional Benches in the absence of any mechanism or criteria in place.
“Therefore, there has been no logic or reason backing the nomination and determination of the number of judges for the Constitutional Benches,” said the letter.
