KARACHI: The Karachi police have made significant progress in investigating the robbery attempt targeting Polish citizens in Karachi’s upscale Clifton area.

The victims have identified two suspects from photographs and sketches provided by authorities, and a search is underway to apprehend them

The police have widened their investigation and contacted their counterparts in Islamabad to assist in the apprehension of the suspects. CCTV footage is being examined to identify the accused, and the vehicle used in the robbery has been linked to a private company.

In addition, The police have also clarified that the suspects were wearing security guards’ uniforms, not police uniforms.

The Chief Minister of Sindh, Syed Murad Ali Shah, has sought a report from the Karachi Police Chief, condemning the incident and emphasizing the importance of protecting tourists.

The Home Minister of Sindh has ordered the immediate arrest of the robbers and directed the police to take strict action with the help of available evidence and CCTV cameras.

Earlier on Tuesday, four Polish citizens, including a woman, were robbed in Clifton. The victims were residing in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority (DHA) and had gone to a shopping mall to get mobile SIM cards.

The suspects, posing as security guards, stopped the victims’ cars, snatched dollars and valuables, and physically assaulted one of them.

The incident came to light after a video of the robbery went viral on social media, prompting the police and Sindh government to take action. Unfortunately, the Polish citizens have left the country without approaching the police for legal proceedings.

Clifton, known for its affluent and historic seaside locality, is considered one of Karachi’s most secure areas, making this incident particularly concerning.
