KARACHI: In a startling turn of events, today’s devastating explosion in Machar Colony in Karachi left one person dead and seven injured, including children. Witnesses describe a horrifying scene as the explosion rocked the neighborhood and seriously damaged a ground-floor LPG filling station building.

An eyewitness named Muhammad Mian, who was hurt in the incident, only talked to Hum News and gave a terrifying account of what happened before and after the explosion. “The entire area shook as soon as the explosion took place,” he said, describing the impact.

The ground floor of the impacted building housed an LPG filling station. The filling station exploded, destroying the building’s roof in the process and blowing away the door and debris.

The roof of the building, which was made of cement sheets on the second story and tile beams on the first, was destroyed by the explosion’s force. One confirmed death has resulted from the incident’s aftermath, and seven people—including children—have been taken to the civil hospital for medical care.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the LPG filling station on the property in an effort to determine what caused the explosion.

In addition to actively managing the incident’s aftermath, emergency response teams and local authorities are also actively involved in securing the area and providing medical assistance. As the neighborhood comes to grips with the unexpected tragedy that has occurred there, the community is experiencing shock and grief.
