KARACHI: The superintendent of a government college in Karachi has fled with over Rs0.9 million in cash, collected from the students as examination fees.
Shehla Bashir, the principal of Government Degree College for Women Nazimabad has lodged an FIR at Rizvia police station against the official.
According to the complaint, the college superintendent, Muhammad Nafees, collected Rs910,200 in cash from at least 81 female students.
The principal told police that the suspect has not visited the college since January 25 and fled with the money instead of depositing it with the bank.
The college principal said that students have been complaining about not receiving their admit cards.
She mentioned that students were earlier instructed to obtain a voucher instead of handing cash to any staff member.
Talking about the issue, the college dean told the media that most of the students have received admit cards with the help of the board management, while the rest of them will get theirs today.
On the other hand, the police said a search operation has been launched to arrest the college official.
