ISLAMABAD: Kazakhstan has expressed keen interest in importing 50,000 tonnes of potatoes from Pakistan.

According to the Ministry of Commerce, this development was possible after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent talks with the President of Kazakhstan. The timeline for completing the export process has been set for April to June 2026.

Pakistani exporters will be committed to providing quality and high-quality potatoes to Kazakhstani importers. Consultations on technical and commercial issues between the relevant authorities of the two countries have also been completed.

Agricultural experts say that Pakistan’s potato production is sufficient for export and large imports from Kazakhstan are welcome. This will not only benefit Pakistani farmers but will also boost agricultural exports.

It should be noted that potato production in the country has been very good in recent years, however, farmers are worried due to not getting proper rates. They will get adequate financial benefits from this export opportunity.
